An original design by Ann Rubin, the Dreidel Comforter features an abstracted Jewish dreidel motif rendered in classic American patchwork.

Patchwork was born in Ancient Egypt around 1000 B.C.E. and flourished in the United States in the 18th and 19th centuries. Patchwork is an important American folk art today.

The dreidel legend resonates all year around. A special gift card that tells the story accompanies your Dreidel Comforter.

The game of dreidel has delighted youngsters for centuries. The spinning top’s origin dates from 170 B.C.E. when the tyrant King Antiochus forbid the Jewish people from worshipping God. While secretly praying and studying Torah, Jews played with dreidels to conceal their activity from approaching Syrian soldiers. Today, children around the world spin dreidels during the Festival of Chanukah to recall the heroism of the Jews.
